Loneliness, isolation, being alone. We are starting to learn just how detrimental these realities can be to our wellbeing. In this brief segment, Angellah and Jim deal with the reality that is affecting so many of us...Loneliness.
Together we discuss what Loneliness is and how Loneliness can be a reality for you even when you are in a crowded room or around friends and family. The idea of our need for social connection is deeply rooted in our tribal ancestors. When we are alone and it is leading to loneliness, our survival Default Mode Network may trigger a Red Alert. The resulting hormone cascade in our bodies and brains can bring a litany of unwelcome and negative physical, mental , neurological, and emotional results.
This stressor will cause inflammation and that may well lead to dis-ease...unless we take steps to combat Loneliness. Of course you can come up with many unique and meaningful suggestions to combat loneliness but in this segment, Jim and Angellah reference a few very simple steps one can choose to do in order to reduce the response in your brain that Loneliness has brought on.
Mindfulness is said to be noticing what is in our thoughts, what we are feeling, and the behaviors we do. When we move through life we often end up being on autopilot. While that is a good thing once we have learned to ride a bicycle and no longer have to think about the process, it is less good when we stay on autopilot and neglect recognizing our moment to moment thoughts and feelings.

Mindfulness....even in the tiniest of doses, will begin to bring us back to ourselves. We can engage our brains with our bodies and overcome the racing thoughts, the unaddressed feelings, and the thoughtless reactions that many of us often do because we have lost our ability to identify and think about what is going on in us, to us, and with us. In this brief overview of Mindfulness Jim and Angellah offer some insights to encourage subtle efforts we can all make to be more Mindful.
This short time together won't make you a Mindfulness Pro but beginning to take notice of a few little things will prep us to grow in wellness. It doesn't have to be hard because a small bit of practice may even help you to enhance your Choice Management abilities for the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that will come in our days , weeks, months, and years ahead.

In this Mental Health Mondays installment, you will find some insights into what is going on in your brain when anxiety starts to rob your peace.
The feelings of Anxiety are real and it is a challenge for someone outside your body to understand what is going on inside your body when anxiety takes over. We can get through our anxiety when we know a few important things about it. First, we can understand that our body is prepping us for a threat and is setting off a false alarm. Then we can accept the fact that when adrenaline surges, you can't unrelease it. Next, we can validate the fact that even though it is not deadly, experiencing anxiety is very uncomfortable.
Knowing this can help us to ride the wave of anxiety because we can be certain it will end and the thief of peace will let go and you'll soon feel like yourself again.
