Suicide Awareness, Prevention, and Intervention

60 Minute | 90 Minute | Half Day

Learning Objectives:


· Understand the reverberating impact of suicide

· Gain skills to recognize the signs, symptoms, risk factors, and warning signs of suicide

· Learn how talk about suicide without shame, urgency, or judgment

· Identify the value of hope and how to support a person who is suicidal

· Identify resources when dealing with a person who may be suicidal


Workshop Outline:

· How to Talk About Suicide

· Why People Die by Suicide

· Risk Factors & Warning Signs of Suicide

· Suicide Prevention & Intervention

· Resources, Help, and Supports

· Isolation, Social Connections, and Hope

Workshop Description

  

This workshop evaluates and explains the challenges we are faced with due to the complexities of suicide in society today. The curriculum is undergirded by evidence and expert opinion on how to interact with suicidality in self and others.


Informed by The Mental Health Commission of Canada and other national sources, this workshop shifts participants in the direction of safety for self and meaningful input towards safety for family members, friends, or colleagues.
