Learning Objectives

· Learn about the Circadian cycles in humans that dictate when we should sleep
· Gain insights into our individual sleep quality and quantity
· Examine the detrimental effects in health, work, and life from poor sleep
· Develop strategies through MICRO Goals to improve the amount of good sleep we get
Workshop Outline:
· Are you feeling Sleepy?- The difference between fatigue and sleepy
· How many hours do you need and what happens to me if I don’t get them?
· What Keeps you up at Night?
· How sleep difficulties can be a safety risk
· Recognizing the Danger Zone by understanding the signs and symptoms of sleep deprivation
· What you can do to combat fatigue from poor sleep
· Building better health and wellness through MICRO Goals to improved sleep
The need for sleep is uncontested in society. So why is it still like chasing a unicorn for so many of us? 40% of Canadians and Americans have sleep disorders or are sleep deficient.
In this workshop we come to understand what keeps us from our best sleeps, how missing regular sleep may be killing us, and how we can recapture the one part of our life that is an absolute must if we hope to get well, be well, and stay well.
In this session the participant will gain insights into the mystery of sleep and how to motivate self to do whatever it takes to recapture this life-giving slumber and be happier, healthier, and more productive in every way.
