Anxiety: It’s More Common Than You Think

Learning Objectives

· Understand the rise in anxiety related conditions in North America

· Learn to recognize anxiety in self and others

· Identify what the human brain and biology is doing when anxiety strikes

· Develop strategies to manage self anxiety and support others experiencing anxiety


Workshop Outline:

· Anxiety what it is and why is it so common?

· The Risk factors and major drivers of Anxiety today.

· Exploring Anxiety and Panic Attacks from the Inside Out

· Looking at some case studies to help understand the signs and symptoms…

· Please Don’t tell me to “Calm Down”

· How to interact supportively with minor and extreme anxiety/panic attacks.

· Strategies for all of us when Anxiety strikes

· Isolation- What it’s Doing to us and to Anxiety.

Workshop Description

  

What is anxiety and why is it so common? What is happening inside of us that feels so awful? Within this disorder specific workshop, participants will review the risk factors and major drivers that cause anxiety today. 


We will review an assortment of case studies during this session to help participants understand the signs and symptoms of anxiety and panic attacks. We will discuss crisis intervention, and how to interact supportively with minor and extreme anxiety/panic attacks.


Participants will gain strategies to apply when anxiety strikes within their own lives. Isolation and what it’s doing to us and to Anxiety is examined. Professional, Personal, and in-a-Pinch resources that mean something to the experience are taught.
